It’s funny how what would otherwise seem like an ordinary moment of life can change our lives from a “before” to a “now”.
For Bart Vermilya, working a stressful job in telecommunications, he needed a way to handle his stress. So he started studying martial arts. All ordinary moments in ordinary days.
As he continued in martial arts, he earned higher and higher belts, making fiercer competitions. More ordinary moments.
Then, Bart got injured. After doctors told him he would need surgery, he decided to explore his options and tried acupuncture for the first time. When acupuncture helped heal his injury, his electrical engineering background of solving complex problems and systems kicked in. And he wanted to know how acupuncture worked.
A seemingly ordinary moment turned the “before” into the “now”.
Acupuncture Brooklyn, Michigan
Now, Bart Vermilya is a Registered Acupuncturist in the state of Michigan. After acupuncture made such a large impact on his own health and well-being and looking at the body as a complex system that has complex dependencies, he got his Masters Degree in Oriental Medicine with additional training in Chinese-style massage (Tu Nai) and Japanese restorative body work that helps people recover from injuries (Seifukujitsu).
Bart owns Sacred Touch Healing Arts Center in Brooklyn, Michigan where he and his team treat patients with acupuncture, Chinese herbs, massage, facials, light therapy, and more.
Most people’s knee jerk reaction to acupuncture is a nervousness about the needles. Acupuncture needles are extremely fine and sterile. They are inserted along meridians in the body to help draw attention to problem areas and help heal body systems naturally.
Acupuncture can help treat many problems, issues, and illnesses in the body. The National Institute of Health (NIH) lists 55 ailments or issues that acupuncture can help with from the common cold to chronic pain, from intestinal issues to mental health and wellness, and so many more. Acupuncture can also help to improve immune health.
Acupuncture works with your body – it resets bodily systems so that they can relearn how to heal and deal with those problem areas in your body.
Here’s what one patient had to say:
Acupuncture has helped me so much! After 20 years of chronic pain which is exacerbated by stress, acupuncture has been such a relief – literally. When I’m in a flare up, acupuncture helps to settle it down. It has long-term stress, anxiety, and pain relief. I can’t believe how well I sleep now. And if some issues comes up anew in between visits, Bart is great about addressing that as well. Bart laid out a treatment plan that started with a couple visits a week at first, then down to one a week, then every couple weeks, and now I go in for maintenance. I’ve learned my stress triggers now that I’m not in a constant stress-pain cycle. And I can tell before it’s an emergency when I need to go in. And when I wait too long, I can call and usually get in very quickly. I’m so grateful for Bart and his knowledge and how much it’s helped me. – recent Google review
